MAGIC Cares: Taking Steps Towards Sustainable Fashion

Eco-friendly, sustainable, bio-degradable, ethical….these are some of the terms that you are hearing a lot these days, and that for a very good reason. Sustainability is now more important than it has ever been, in order to save our planet. There are lots of things that you can do every single day to help our environment, making changes in the food we eat to the clothes we wear! So have you started making sustainable choices yet?

Sustainable fashion is one of the latest transitions in the fashion and textile industry. In the sustainable fashion scene, it’s not just about eco-friendly fabrics but also the whole sustainable process that goes into creating the products. For instance, using recycled materials, sourcing raw materials locally, reduced use of water during production etc. At MAGIC, we are very aware of the demand of sustainable fashion and have already set our missions towards that direction by launching two very special Eco-friendly collections: Body Hugging Bamboo Collection & DSIRED Luxury Slimmers Collection with REPREVE®.

These sustainable collections are the excellent results of honest resources and processes, and by launching these sustainable, nature-friendly items, we also want to make it easier for you to make a sustainable choice. We are constantly improving the use of sustainable materials in our collections, and in this way we want to show that MAGIC Cares.

MAGIC Body Hugging Bamboo Collection
78% of the composition of the Body Hugging Bamboo products is made of sustainable, nature-friendly and green raw Tanboocel™ Bamboo fibers. Isn’t that great?

Honest products
We value honest products and do not use any endangered bamboo species. Our bamboo comes from bamboo plantations in China and can easily be reforested. To ensure good working conditions we regularly visit our producers. The Bamboo we use for our collections is not the same Bamboo the Panda bear eats! Bamboo plantations absorb almost five times the amount of greenhouse gases and produce 35% more oxygen than most trees!

The process
Tanboocel™ Bamboo fibers is natural, green and eco-friendly raw material that is bio-degradable and can be mixed with other materials (e.g. cotton, hemp, silk). Bamboo textile is nearly always combined with other kinds of textile. This is because bamboo fibers are shorter than cotton fibers. By combining Tanboocel™ Bamboo fibers we can make sure that the product is strong and durable. The fibers are made through a viscose production process in which the bamboo stems are chemically treated. After this, the composition is pressed through nozzles, which results in a thin fiber. These fibers are then made into yarn and from that yarn the fabric is made. Processing bamboo for fabric is relatively new, so the technology involved is also newer and greener. The chemical treatment process, for instance, uses smaller amounts of water compared to other fabric treatment processes!

There is no end to the good properties of bamboo fibers! Did you know that bamboo is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, odor resistant, durable and often fully degradable?

The Body Hugging Bamboo Collection currently has four different products: Trendy Hipster, Comfort Bra, Comfort Bra with Spaghetti Straps and Bandeau Push-Up Bra. These items are fully seamless and wireless which gives you maximum comfort all day long and they come in Cream, Mocha & Rose colors. So pretty!

DSIRED REPREVE® Luxury Slimmers Collection
The DSIRED REPREVE® Luxury Slimmers Collection is our most premium and luxurious line, and it’s made of 80% REPREVE® fibers. REPREVE® is the leading, most trusted, branded performance fiber made from recycled materials, including post-consumer plastic bottles and post-industrial waste! REPREVE® is made by Unifi, and this company is not just finding new life for recycled materials. Compared to making other common fibers, making REPREVE® offsets using new petroleum, emitting fewer greenhouse gases and conserving water and energy in the process. That makes a big difference for our future. When you see the REPREVE® symbol on the label of our collection, remember: “It's the inside, that makes a difference. REPREVE makes it sustainable. The DSIRED REPREVE® Luxury Slimmers Collection currently has three premium shapewear items; Luxury Bermuda, Luxury Brief and Luxury Bodybriefer. Besides being eco-friendly, they are seamless, elegant and extremely comfortable while providing medium shaping to your body!
